Black Cats set to swoop for Bent

Monday, July 27, 2009

Darren Bent is on the verge of joining Steve Bruce's Sunderland in a £15 million pound move from Spurs. Bent joined Tottenham in 2007 for £16.65 million but never really made a huge impression and it now seems his time at White Hart Line is coming to an end.

Originally Bruce had set his sights on Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch, but after missing out on the lanky striker, Bruce turned his attention to Bent. And Bruce was confident that Bent could agree personal terms after their £15 million pound offer was accepted. The transfer is set to be concluded when Bent returns from China on tour with Spurs.

''Talks are ongoing at a high level''.

In my opinion, Bent was very over-priced for a player who had one good season at Charlton, in which they got relegated. I still think that £15 million would be over pricing the England international, and i would think that maybe an offer of £11 million would be fair for both teams.
