Barca plan move for . . . . . Eboue

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

I didn't see that one coming either. Apparently The Catalans are looking for cover for regular right back Dani Alves after missing out on Shakhtar Donetsk's Dymtro Chygryskiy.

Eboue has come under fire from pundits and Arsenal fans in recent times but to be fair, he has been slightly better this season. I still don't see why Barcelona, the best team in the world, would want to sign him.

Eboure arrived at Arsenal in 2005 and in his second season at the club he was a regular, playing most matches and even made it into the nomination for defender of the year. However, the arrival of Bacary Sagna meant Eboue was moved to the right wing position. The seasons to follow would prove probably the worst of his career, earning a reputation as a dirty player after his foot breaking tackle on John Terry. Then last season the Ivorian was booed by his own fans after a shocking display which saw him come on as a substitute only to be taken off again. The Arsenal fans clapped as he left the pitch and you could see the tears in his eyes.

He has improved this season, but is he really Barcelona material? Is a January transfer on the cards? Time will tell.
