Kuranyi in, Jones out?

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Sunderland boss is apparently keen to sign German striker Kevin Kuranyi from Schalke which may leave the door open for Kenwyne Jones to leave the Black Cats after rumours that Birmingham and Stoke were interested in the Trinidad and Tobago international.

Apparently, a fee of around £3.5 million would be enough to secure Kuranyi's services, with the Kenwyne Jones transfer likely to bring in around £9 million. Personally, I have no idea why Jones would want to move from Sunderland to Stoke or Birmingham. OK both Stoke and Birmingham are ahead of Sunderland, but this will not be the same outcome at the end of the season, in my opinion. Birmingham are going through a good run of form at the moment, but it will end sooner or later. Stoke are a decent team, but in my opinion, Sunderland are better.

Kuranyi would not be a bad replacement for Jones. Hes proven himself in Germany already, scoring over 100 goals in 6 season. I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen, though I think Jones will be making a mistake if he leaves.
