Sol Campbell heading back to Arsenal

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Former Portsmouth and Notts County defender Sol Campbell is ready to make a shock move back to his former club Arsenal. The former England international has been training at Arsenal and apparently impressed Gunners chief Arsene Wenger and is penciled in to face West Ham reserves at Upton Park.

To be honest, I'm shocked. It's a very rare occasion that Arsene Wenger brings in a player that old, considering Campbell is 35 it will probably be his oldest ever signing. Arsenal do need defenders but not ones that are that old. Also, a striker should be on top of Arsene Wenger's list. Without Van Persie they seem to be short up top. In saying that, Bendtner is due back soon and although he has received criticism, he does have good potential and the kind of power up front that Arsenal need.

"Sol has a fantastic attitude and good fitness.''

"Of course he is not the youngest, but he is in a very good shape. He can still play in the Premier League, I've said that many times.''

It remains to see if Campbell will even play in the Premier League, in my opinion he will be there to add experience in the dressing room, but with Arsene Wenger you never know what he has up his sleeve.
