A dramatic day of Football

Saturday, February 27, 2010

It was a dramatic day of football, to say the least. 5 fixtures, but most people would have been looking at the mouth-watering tie between Man City and Chelsea, those who went certainly got their moneys worth.

Chelsea have had it tough recently, losing to Inter Milan and two key players surrounded by the media for the wrong reasons. Today they were looking to keep title ambitions alive. City however through a massive spanner in the work with a 4-2 victory, two goals each for Bellamy and Tevez. The talking point however, was the the pre-match handshakes where people were eager to see what would happen between Wayne Bridge and John Terry. Bridge skipped Terry in the handshakes, but that was it really. Great victory for City.

Now to Stoke v Arsenal. Arsenal haven't fared well at the Britannia stadium, losing 3-1 in the FA Cup this year and 2-1 in the League last year. Today they got a 1-3 victory courtesy of Bentdner, Fabregas and Vermaelen, but a fantastic victory which saw them move to 3 points behind Chelsea was overshadowed by a horrific injury. Aaron Ramsey went in for a 50-50 ball with Ryan Shawcross, and the young Welshman came out of it in a very bad. A broken leg for sure, such a shame considering what a terrific talent he is.

There were also wins for Birmingham, Bolton and Portsmouth, but I'm sure the Ramsey injury and the handshake affair will make the back pages come tomorrow morning.
