I was wrong

Saturday, February 6, 2010

At the very start of the season, I said that Manchester United didn't have a chance of winning the league this year, but reluctantly I have to admit, I was wrong.

United still look a very very strong team this year even with the departures of Ronaldo and Tevez. They are currently top of the league after a great 5-0 victory today against Portsmouth. I'm sure most people ruled out United to win four in a row after Ronaldo and then Tevez left but in truth they are just as strong as last year.

One reason why this is so is because of the form of one man, Wayne Rooney. By far United's best player this season, as he has showed on many occasions. Even Nani, a player who was living in Ronaldo's shadow, is starting to come of age. You also have to admire how United have coped with injuries this season. Several defensive problems, which has seen the likes of Park, Carrick and Fletcher fill in in defense.

Things certainly are looking peachy for United. Will their good form last? Who knows, but one thing is for sure, any team with Wayne Rooney the way he's playing now in it can do anything.
