Gunners ready to outbid rivals

Friday, July 24, 2009

Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to try an outbid rivals Tottenham for Real Madrid Striker Klass-Jan Huntelaar. The Dutch striker only moved to Madrid last January is a £20 million pounds move, which could rise to £27 million. Huntelaar only made twenty appearances for the Galacticos, scoring 8 goals, but it now appears he is set to leave the Spanish giants following the arrivals of Karim Benzema, Kaka, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

"We want the best option for the kid without taking too much time over it. Now the decision rests with Real."

And it now seems Arsenal are the latest club linked with the talented striker. According to The Sun the Gunners believe they are capable of out biding Spurs with a £16.5 million bid. Huntelaar recently stated his desire to play in England, which he backed up by rejecting a move to German side Stuttgart.

In my opinion, perhaps Arsene Wenger should be putting a defensive midfielder on top of his priority list, and although Huntelaar would be a great signing, a defensive midfielder would be far more effective for the Gunners.
