Injury prone Owen out until Christmas

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has been ruled out of action until Christmas. The England international joined the Red Devils from Bayern Munich on July 1st 2007 for £17 million. However, Hargreaves' career has been plagued by injury and this is his latest setback after not recovering from surgery on his knees in time for the new season.

After Hargreaves joined United, he came with a reputation of a midfield rock who was going to sure up the United midfield, but after a series of injuries Hargreaves only managed to play 28 times. He only made one start last season in what was an injury that has seen him be out longer than Arsenal striker Eduardo, who had a horrific leg break in February 2008.

Hargreaves, Ferguson and the rest of the United squad will be hoping the former Bayern ace will be able to make his return in December and hopefully put his injury nightmare behind him. In my opinion, Hargreaves is an excellent player and it is unfortunate he had such long spell on the sidelines. Its official now though, United have the two most injury prone Owen's in the Premier League.
