Viera on Spurs radar

Friday, July 24, 2009

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that he is interested in signing former Arsenal ace Patrick Viera, but has revealed that talks between Spurs and Inter Milan have stalled. Redknapp is keen to buy a central defender, but admits Viera is high on his wish list.

"I'm still interested in Patrick, I would like him''.

Viera moved from Arsenal to Juventus in 2005 for a free of around £13 million. But he was forced to move after the famous match fixing scandal. Viera received many offers, including Real Madrid and Arsenal, but eventually moved to Juventus rivals Inter Milan. However, since his move to Milan Viera never really played to his full potential, and has recently been used mainly as a sub. Now it seems Viera is trying to try re-kindle his career with a move to Arsenal rivals Tottenham, according to Redknapp.

"If he wants to come to Tottenham it shows you about his character. He wants to come and play, he's a fantastic player and wants to play here."

Personally i think Viera is past it, but if Spurs got him cheap, he might prove to be a good singing.
