Will Real Madrid rule Europe?

Sunday, July 12, 2009

With all the transfers Real Madrid have this summer so far, nobody doubt the ability and talent in their squad, but the real question is, can they dominate La Liga and the Champions League. So far this summer The Galacticos have splashed the cash on Brazilian star Kaka (£59 million), former Valencia defender Raul Albiol (£12.8 million), Lyon and France star Karim Benzema (£30 million), and most notably World Player Of Year Crisitiano Ronaldo from Man Utd (£80 million).

With a combined value of £181.8 million for the four player Real have signed, the Real Madrid fans will surely be expecting success in La Liga and of course when they play in the Champions League, but can they do it?

All the transfers reminds me of Chelsea a few years ago when Ambramovich took over, Chelsea signed a number of big stars including Didier Drogba, Michael Ballack and Mateja Kezman to name a few. The Blues team failed to gel and have yet failed to win the Champions League. I get the feeling the same will happen to Real Madrid.

They certainly have the quality, but is there too many 'individual' players who play by themselves?
