Chelsea plan Ribery raid

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Chelsea look ready to try strengthen their squad before the transfer window shuts, with the Blues planning a huge £40 million bid for Bayern Munich ace Frank Ribery. Ribery has been linked with many clubs this summer, including Barcelona and Manchester United.

Apparently, it was Roman Abramovich who made the approach for the French winger. Manchester are still keen on Ribery but now it seems Abramovich's approach will give Chelsea the lead in signing the French star.

"We are still resolved to keep Ribery but Hoeness agreed to meet with Abramovich in Germany to discuss any offer."

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti was promised a major signing by Ambramovich, and after failing in signing Kaka and Alexandre Pato the Russian billionaire is prepared to splash the cash on Ribery. Personally I think Ribery is a fantastic player. His ability to run at defenders and beat them is amazing and in my opinion he would fit right into the Premier League. In my opinion, his pace would cancel out lack of strength, sort of the same as Theo Walcott
