Stoke make shock move for Bent

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Stoke have today made a shock move for Darren Bent. The offer of £15 million would smash their previous transfer record of £5.5 million for Dave Kitson who proved to be a massive flop.

Bent was widely expected to join Sunderland recently and was set for talks with Sunderland and a medical before stoke made a bid which would see their transfer kitty emptied. It seems that a deal had been struck for Bent by Sunderland, but Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy believes the Stoke offer is a better deal. But now its up to Bent, apparently the personal terms Sunderland are offering better personal terms which might tempt the England international.

Personally, I think Bent would be an excellent signing for Stoke as he would no doubt be their main striker. However, he would also more than likely lead the line for Sunderland as well, although they have more quality in attack.
