Lennon, Wright-Phillips or Walcott . . . Who would you choose?

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

England manager Fabio Capello will not be short of wingers for next years World Cup in South Africa, after all, he has arguably the best wingers in the Premier League. With Aaron Lennon, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Theo Walcott all looking for a starting place at the biggest competition in the world, Capello may well have a selection headache.

As well as the three speedy wingers, Capello will have David Beckham and Joe Cole ( presuming Cole is ever fully fit ) at his disposal, not bad back-ups to have. But the real question is, who will he pick? Aaron Lennon and Shaun Wright-Phillips have both had good starts to the season, Lennon in particular. Theo Walcott on the other hand hasn't played yet this season, but has already proven himself at an international level, most notably his hat-trick against Croatia this time last year.

Personally, Id go with Lennon. He has really started well this year and if his form continues I see no reason why he wouldn't get the nod. Id put Walcott in second place behind Lennon, considering his youth and overall I think he is more dangerous than Wright-Phillips. Its probably to early to pick who will get the right wing position next summer, but one thing is for sure, I wouldn't want to be any left back playing against England in the near future.
