Ronaldo feeling the pressure of worlds most expensive player

Friday, September 11, 2009

The most expensive player in the world Cristiano Ronaldo is apparently nervous that he will not be able to live up to his massive price tag (£80 million) according to Real Madrid sporting director Jorge Valdano. Ronaldo arrived at Madrid this summer along with a host of other big names, including Kaka and Xabi Alonso.

But his massive price tag appears to be taking a toll on Ronaldo, who has made a somewhat mediocre start for his new club, by his standards anyway. He did score a debut goal from the peno spot but his overall performance wasn't as good as it has been over the years. Valdano likened Ronaldo's start to that of Zinedine Zidane. Zidane arrived in Madrid for a record fee of £46 million but took time to get into the swing of things.

"He needs a bit of time to adapt, like what happened when Zinedine Zidane moved here."

I'm not surprised by Ronaldo's slow start in a Real Madrid shirt, after all he has spent the bulk of his career playing English football. However, like all the greats, I believe we will soon see Ronaldo back to his best.

Change of email.
Just to let you know, I've changed the email address to, not that most of you will care but it sounds a tad more professional than the last one.
