Dalglish the man to replace Rafa at Liverpool

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Rumour today has it that former Scottish international footballer Kenny Dalglish could be the man to replace Rafael Benitez at Liverpool. Rafa has come under fire recently for a string of poor performances, including last nights 1-2 loss to Lyon at Anfield.

Dalglish is currently playing a part with Liverpool's youth academy and is also the clubs ambassador. In 1985-86 he became player/manager of Liverpool and guided them to their first ever double by winning the league title and FA Cup.

Benitez arrived at Liverpool in 2004 and has since reached the Champions League final twice, winning once, and has also won an FA Cup. He enjoyed a promising season last season which saw Liverpool come runner-up to Manchester United in the Premiership and his team were expected to challenge strongly for the title again this season. However, four defeats in the Premier League and two in the Champions League has put Rafa under a lot of pressure, and defeat to Manchester United this weekend could signal the end for Benitez.

You never know who will take over if Rafa does pack his bags, but I for one hope its Kenny Dalglish. He has great experience after managing such teams as Liverpool, Blackburn, Newcastle and Celtic. I'm sure Liverpool fans would love to see their 85-86 double winning hero back as manager.
