"I'd like to play with him.'' - Xavi wants Cesc to return to Spanish giants

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has urged out at Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas to leave the Gunners in order to link up with him at Barcelona. Fabregas' has been linked numerous times to the Spanish Giants, and Pep Guardiola had no intention of hiding his interest in the Arsenal talisman last summer. A move never materialised after Arsene Wenger warned off Guardiola and the speculation was put to bed for a while. However, Xavi's recent comment may have fueled more speculation that another trophyless season for the Gunners, and Xavi might get his wish.

Fabregas has never denied his eagerness to one day play in Spain, but has remained loyal to the club that made him what he is today, one of the best midfielders in the world. I have no doubt that one day Fabregas will leave Arsenal, but as a fan of the English Premier League, I hope its later rather than sooner. Fabregas is an exceptional midfielder and probably has the best vision in the Premier League. However, I don't think anyone can blame him if he does leave, especially if Arsenal go another season without silver wear. The thought of Fabregas linking up with the likes of Messi, Henry, Xavi, Iniesta and Ibrahimovic is very exciting and he would probably prove to be a massive success.

"I'd like to play with him. I've always said that in the national team I link up with Cesc very well, despite the fact that many say we can't play together''. - Xavi

"I would love him to sign and that we could play together at Barca. Clearly, a lot of his career is ahead of him and I think that in the future he will be at Barca." - Xavi
