Glen Johnson admits form is ''awful for a club like Liverpool''

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson has admitted that Liverpool's recent from has been awful. They are currently 11 points behind leader Chelsea and have a difficult task to make it out of the Champions League group stages.

Liverpool have come under massive criticism for their poor form, not helped by a 2-2 draw last night at home to Birmingham. Surely a team hoping to challenge for the title should be beating Birmingham at home.

Liverpool have, to be fair, been done in by injuries lately. Captain Steven Gerrard was absent for a while with a groin injury and now top goalscorer Torres has been ruled out until December. Without Torres, Liverpool will struggle. Where will the goals come from? With Benayoun injured, maybe Ryan Babel will have a chance to prove himself.

In spite of this poor form, Johnson is confident they can turn it around. Johnson himself was on the injury list lately but came back against Birmingham and put in a very good performance from what the highlights showed.

''We will just look to get as many points as we can as quickly as possible then have a look at the end of the season and see where we are.''

In my opinion, Liverpool may forget about the Premiership and pray to god they make the Champions League knock-out stage. They definitely need to get a good run of form in the league if they are to even make the top four. What ever happens, they have their work cut out for them.
