Pavlyuchenko set for Spanish switch

Sunday, November 8, 2009

Reports in The Mirror today have suggested that out-of-favour Spurs striker Roman Pavlyuchenko could be on his way to Spain after falling down in the pecking order at Tottenham. Only a year and a bit ago he arrived at White Hart Lane for £14 million but is now a fourth choice striker behind Keane, Defoe and Crouch.

Pavlyuchenko will be anxious to move in a bid to get first team football before next years World Cup, should Russia qualify. Apparently Valencia are favourites to sign the lanky striker. Valencia are a club in massive debt and are expected to sell of a number of key players and they reckon they could get Pavlyuchenko for a fraction of the price Spurs paid.

To be honest, I think £15 was a ridiculous amount to pay for Pavlyuchenko. I watched him in Euro 2008 and I wasn't that impressed.Sure he is a good player but when you consider Andrei Arshavin only cost Arsenal £15.5 million, I think a price of £9 million-£10 million would have been fair.
