Rafa hoping to raise funds

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

Liverpool chief Rafa Benitez is hoping to raise funds for new players by letting Andrea Dossena, Andriy Voronin and Ryan Babel change clubs during the January transfer window. It is well known that Liverpool are in a spot of bother and are fighting to make the top four, therefore Benitez is willing to let some fringe players go in order to bring in more quality.

However, Benitez has ruled out letting go of winger Yossi Benayoun and Albert Riera after interest from Olympiakos. A wise choice from the Liverpool boss, Benayoun being one of Liverpool's most creative players and Riera always a handy player on his day.

Whilst letting Dossena and Voronin go is an extremely good decision, I think Benitez should consider keeping Babel. In my opinion Babel is a player of some potential and has shown on a couple of occasions what he is capable of. However, considering Babel is fighting for a ticket to the World Cup, a move away from Liverpool is probably best for the Dutch winger.
