Chamakh wants Arsenal move

Monday, February 8, 2010

Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has stated today that his dream is to play in the Premier League at Arsenal. The Moroccan international has been subject to speculation in recent times, with Arsenal, Liverpool and a host of other European clubs interested, but a move never materialised.

However, Chamakh said if he is to leave Bordeaux, Arsenal is his preferred destination. Chamakh's contract runs out at the end of June and both Arsenal and Liverpool have made pre-contract offers for the player. Liverpool are reported to have made a £50,000 a week contract plus a huge signing on fee for Chamakh but Arsenal remain confident of singing him, especially with him declaring his interest in signing for them.

"My choice is to join a Premier League club and, if I could choose, I will go to Arsenal.''

This is obviously good news for Arsenal fans and indeed Arsene Wenger. Now, I'll admit I haven't seen enough of Chamakh to say whether he will be a success at Arsenal, but usually Arsene Wenger is very clever about who he signs and usually its a good buy. Arsenal are also is desperate need of a striker, but now they can only sign Chamakh in the summer transfer window.
