If AC Milan are to qualify they need to stop Rooney

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Manchester United v AC Milan tonight promises to be a mouth-watering tie with United 2-3 up after the first leg. Milan do have a good chance of qualifying tonight however, but they will need 2 goals no matter what. However, scoring goals will not be the problem. Stopping Wayne Rooney is what will be key to Milan's success.

Its going to have to be a magnificent performance from Milan if they are to qualify. Scoring and winning by two goals is no easy feat against Man Utd, especially at Old Trafford. They do have the quality though. Ronaldinho showed he is still a top class player in the last leg, whilst they still have the likes of Huntelaar, Inzaghi, Pato (doubt) and not to mention Beckham who is returning to Old Trafford.

The defence is key however, and unfortunately, I don't think they are good enough. The first leg the defence looked very slow and just couldn't cope with Rooney, who I have backed to score first tonight.

My prediction - Man United 2-0 AC Milan
